Woodgate Design provide the whole package; research and planning, design, copywriting, illustration, photography and image restoration through to print and installation project management. As members of your team we can steer the project from beginning to end. We can also help you to set up a heritage group for your project, setting tasks for each member to perform and managing the information received. Members of the group are generally drawn from past employees and the local community including history groups and retired enthusiasts. Woodgate Design can also provide ideas and advice on the opening event including press and television coverage.
So you could ask the question – do we really want a stuffy history display of the past or a bright modern artwork of the 21st Century?
The answer is, we want to create history and heritage displays which are bright and modern in design, contrasting the past with the present, showing advances in treatment and changes in care. Engaging with and talking about how the local health service has integrated with the local community, its people, unique location and social history.
We work with a wide range of materials, always seeking out new techniques and processes which we can combine with our specialist design services, specifically geared at creating dramatic modern permanent displays in Hospitals, PCT’s and Medical Centres.
We know how important the planning process is to all parties and simply want to work in a way which is harmonious with the fabric, design and structure of your building. By allowing us to be involved at an early stage could potentially save in the costs, both of the building and the heritage artworks. For example specific areas can be left relatively unfinished rather than applying expensive finishes and detailing where the displays are planned to go. Also elements of the final displays could potentially be built into the structure, saving in the costs of installation and adding to the dramatic visual impact of the final artwork.
What could be included?
Window treatments and designs. Wall hanging and free hanging banners and displays.
Detailed history and heritage displays. Sculpture and 3 dimensional artefacts such as parts of former buildings (clocks, plaques, carved stonework etc). Audio posts and touchscreen AV podiums with search functions to portray the history, through the mediums of video and audio recordings and animated slideshows. Collaborative artworks – glass, sculpture, fabric and painting could all form parts of an integrated display.
