Imagination Station
Hand-painted mural for LS14 Trust’s new community centre in Seacroft, Leeds
Bright, bold and made for the neighbourhood: this vivid mural was hand-painted for the new Imagination Station community centre in Seacroft, Leeds. Painted on the large gable end, it can be seen all the way down the road and brings some much-needed colour to the area. It gives the building a clear identity and helps people see what’s happening inside.
The mural shows four figures, two children and two young adults, surrounded by a single, large collective thought bubble. Inside the bubble, flowing shapes and clouds mingle with local red kites, flowers, musical notes, a hot air balloon and an ice cream (a nod to the LS14 Trust’s own ice cream van, which joined the opening day celebrations). The imagery celebrates collective imagination and the idea that great things at Imagination Station will come from the community itself: sessions and activities shaped by local people, for local people.
Made to Last and Made to Welcome
The lettering ‘Imagination Station’ was printed and cut from dibond and mounted on the wall so the lettering stands proud and bold against the painted scene, a permanent and confident welcome to the space beneath it.
The mural was painted with longevity in mind. Two coats of anti-graffiti clearcoat protect the surface from vandalism and add UV resistance, so the colours will stay vibrant and uplifting for years to come.
A happy response and a big thank you
The centre opened on Wednesday 29th October 2025 with families, neighbours and local councillors in attendance. While painting, I had lots of friendly conversations with people passing by. One person told me the mural “just makes you feel happy,” which sums up exactly what I hoped it would do.
Huge thanks to LS14 Trust for commissioning the mural, and to Seagulls Reuse for generously supplying the paint free of charge!
